Physician (Diagnostics Medical Director)
The Diagnostic Integrated Community of Care (ICC) Line Chief is responsible and accountable for the overall leadership, planning, operations, and performance of the ICC line. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversees Section Chiefs of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine (P&LM) and Imaging. Administrative activities such as peer review and other activities as required. Provides consultation services, comparative reports, and participating in clinical conferences/committees as requested by referring physicians. Participates in quality control/quality management (including department and hospital level peer reviews). Reviews IR consults including utilization management, ensuring appropriate pre- and post-procedural workups, and technical oversight for technologists. Participates in academic fulfillment missions such as the publishing of peer reviewed publications, case reports, and/or pursue grant submissions. Compliance with VHA and facility credentialing and privileging processes, including coordination with the Professional Standards Board. Ensure appropriate response to Congressional inquiries, compliance with standards of the VA Inspector General, The Join Commission, CARF (P&LM) and other survey bodies as well as VHA, Occupational Safety and Health Administration and safety and environment of care standards. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements:
Heavy Lifting (up to 35 lbs); Moderate Carrying (15-35 lbs); Reaching Above Shoulder; Ability and dexterity of hand(s) to manage gross and fine motor tasks of patient care (i.e. IV insertion, wound care management, etc.); Walking Throughout Assigned Shift; Standing As Duties Require; Kneeling as Duties Require; Repeated Bending As Duties Require; Near Vision Correctable at 13 to 16 to Jaeger 1 to 4; Far Vision Correctable in One Eye To 20/50 and to 20/100 In the Other; Color Vision; Hearing (aid permitted); and Specific Hearing Requirements.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
