Interface with personal computer (PC) applications as well as numerous VISTA applications, CPRS (Computerized Patient Records System) applications and scanning equipment and software. Review all documents received in the Unit and identify any problems and/or deficiencies with the record. Associate each document with the correct patient's CPRS record, complete and appropriate TIU document, assign the appropriate document-names nomenclature/index terms, and link scanned document with consultation reports when applicable. Review and research numerous and voluminous medical reports from VA and non-VA health care facilities making a determination as to which documents are to be scanned, and when necessary. Will ensure all necessary health and administrative information is integrated into VISTA through PC scanning software. Maintain a daily productivity log of scanning and indexing activities. Assist in training other staff with scanning tasks and troubleshooting problems that may arise with the scanning of documents. Responsible for maintaining a system of paper medical records including the maintenance of the master locator file which is a master index of all patients treated at the facility. Retrieves records or documents from such system upon request from person having a right of access. Request records from and transfers records to other VHA medical facilities. Work Schedule:

As part of the Records Management process, duties include receiving, indexing, scanning and filing of health and administrative information. The incumbent will review all documents received and identify any problems/deficiencies with the record. Documents evaluated and found to meet documentation requirements will be processed for scanning into VistA Imaging Software which is accessed via CPRS. Incumbent will associate each document with the correct patient's CPRS record, complete an appropriate TIU document, assign the appropriate document named nomenclature/index terms, and link scanned document with consultation reports when applicable. After the scanning and indexing process is complete, the incumbent will confirm information interchange and the quality of the image. Experience:
You must have one year of general experience equivalent with duties related to the position. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position, such as, receiving, indexing, scanning and filing of health and administrative information. OR, Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have two years of education above high school (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED). OR, Combination:

Physical Requirements:
The work is mostly sedentary during the scanning processes. The work requires a high degree of concentration and the ability to work under pressure and stress within specified time frames. When performing record retirement activities, the work can be demanding physically. The work requires a great deal of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and pulling for periods of time. The employee may be required to carry 10 or more pounds of records for short distances. Employee may push or pull carts with medical records up ramps when transporting records. Some work requires packing boxes (whose weight will typically exceed 20 pounds) and otherwise preparing records for shipments. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
