Nurse Practitioner - Mental Health RRTP
The Nurse Practitioner (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) functions directly to support the activities of the local Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP). The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the planning, integrating, implementing, modifying and evaluating the effectiveness of the Veteran's care. The Nurse Practitioner is the lead of the integrated care team established by RRTP. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise on mental health service line processes and regulation. Serve as a liaison to both internal and external providers and responsible for managing the care of the Veteran and the seamless transition to and from the community. Posses the knowledge related to VHA guidelines, utilization review criteria, current evidence based standards of care, compliance guidelines and local policy related to Delegation of Authority as established by the facility Chief of Staff. Core elements of performance include knowledge and active participation in unit/program level quality improvement processes and initiatives as well as customer service programs. Follows the standardized care coordination model, incorporating case management principles if applicable, knowledge of processes related to referral and authorization and secure medical documentation exchange. Ability to identify Veterans requiring disease management and the process to obtain these resources internal or external to the VA if applicable. Focus on providing care that is unique to Veteran needs and continues to monitor, track and intervene if necessary in the episode of care across the continuum. Demonstrate effective communication skills to collaborate and co-manage Veteran care with the multidisciplinary team in a cost-effective manner. Work Schedule:

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. To participate in the program, you must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA Policy 1021 and submit your application within four months of appointment. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office. The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience.
