Summary:
Check inbound produce and current stock in warehouse in order to insure quality and freshness of product being distributed to member stores.
SUPERVISION:
As needed.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Essential Functions:
1.
Ensure only quality product is received and shipped by AWG, and assist in inspecting inbound loads regarding questionable quality or condition and determine proper handling.
2.
Monitor reserve stock in produce rooms verifying that proper rotation procedures have been observed.
3.
Monitor merchandise in picking slots in order to check product age and insure that slots contain the correct item.
4.
Learn how to ripen bananas to the optimum color for member stores.
5.
Examine returned merchandise and damaged cases and determine disposition of product.
6.
Observe that bananas pulled for order selecting are pulled from the proper banana rooms and properly covered.
7.
Figure quantities needed weekly and turn in orders to corporate office.
Supervise the processing of all bananas to ensure smooth flow of high quality product.
IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS:
1.
Check inbound product loads for temperature, quality, dating, sugar content, and proper size.
2.
Work with buyers on a daily basis on product problems.
3.
Be able to use I Pad for I trade purposes.
4.
Be fully versed in AWG's standard operating procedures.
5.
Be able to multitask.
6.
Perform other duties as requested by the Sales Manager or Fresh Director.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Any combination of education, training and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge Produce knowledge of produce items, accounting principles, communication skills, knowledge of warehouse functions, billing and receiving procedures.
Abilities Communicate effectively verbally and in writing; read and understand pertinent data; perform mathematical calculations.
Experience, Education and Training High school diploma and 2-4 years experience at retail level in produce training.
Physical Requirements Perform bending, squatting, kneeling, and reaching from a floor level to six feet in height.
Walking, writing, sitting and climbing.
Working Environment Indoors, warehouse environment and inside produce refrigerated cooler.
Safety hazards possible maneuvering in the warehouse.
